San Domenico MTB Trail System
Tucked into the hills above campus, the San Domenico MTB Trail System has grown from a single legacy trail into a thoughtfully built network that serves both students and the broader riding community. What started as one line in the woods is now a connected system designed for progression, access, and shared use.
A Unique Partnership
These trails sit on private land at San Domenico School, and that relationship is everything. The system exists first and foremost for the school, supporting their cross country running program and mountain bike teams, and second for the wider Marin riding community.
In a place like Marin, where public trail access is limited, partnerships like this are how new opportunities happen. We’re incredibly grateful to San Domenico for trusting us to build, maintain, and share these trails. It’s a model of what’s possible when stewardship and community align.
From One Trail to a System
Over the years, this zone has evolved into a true trail network. Built with intention, progression, and connectivity in mind.
Solstice
The original line. Built in the late ’90s, this 1-mile black diamond trail laid the foundation for everything that followed. A raw, legacy descent that still defines the character of the system.Equinox (Built in 2022)
A 1-mile green trail that wraps around the eastern side of campus. Designed for accessibility and flow, Equinox opened the system to newer riders and created critical connectivity across the property.Eclipse (Built in 2023)
A 0.8-mile blue, bidirectional trail linking the ends of Solstice and Equinox to 680 Trail. Eclipse acts as the connector, bridging trails and opening up new loop options.Truck Trail (Built in 2025)
A 2-mile blue, bidirectional route climbing from the base of Solstice back to the top. Built to provide a more direct and rideable ascent, this trail completes the system by making lap options smoother and more efficient.
Built for Community
This system reflects years of work from Marin Trail Stewards and the local community. Dig days, planning sessions, and a shared vision for what this land could become. It’s now a space where student-athletes train, riders progress, and the community comes together around dirt, effort, and stewardship.
From one trail to a fully connected system, San Domenico is proof that thoughtful partnerships can create something lasting.
