Access4Bikes Foundation becomes Marin Trail Stewards
New name reflects expanded mission of equity, sustainability, and inclusive trail access in Marin County
Fairfax, CA — The Access4Bikes Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rooted in Marin County’s trail advocacy movement, has announced its new name: Marin Trail Stewards. The change reflects the organization’s evolution from a mountain biking advocacy group into a broader community nonprofit focused on inclusive access, environmental stewardship, and resilient trail systems for all users.
Marin Trail Stewards will continue to champion mountain biking while broadening programming to support the trail communities across Marin County. The organization will maintain beloved community events such as Marinduro, Solstice on Solstice, and Biketoberfest to fund stewardship, education, and sustainable trail-building initiatives.
“We’re not losing our mountain biking identity, we’re building on it,” said Vernon Huffman, Executive Director of Marin Trail Stewards. “This name reflects who we’ve become: a community of trail users who care deeply about access, sustainability, and the land itself. We’re here to steward, not just advocate.”
This rebranding also clarifies the separation between charitable and political activity. Marin Trail Stewards is a separately incorporated 501(c)(3) charitable organization and does not participate in or endorse political campaigns. Access4Bikes Votes remains a distinct and completely separate 527 political organization that will continue to focus on electoral advocacy and policy reform.
“This is about maturity and mission,” said Stephen McDaniel, President of the Board of Directors of Marin Trail Stewards. “Marin Trail Stewards represents our commitment to practical stewardship, community building, and expanding trail access so that everyone can experience the joy of Marin’s trails.”
The rebrand follows a period of expanded partnerships, successful community events, and renewed emphasis on inclusive programming and sustainable trail practices. Marin Trail Stewards will continue to host trail work days, clinics, community rides, and events to strengthen stewardship and broaden participation.
